Obituary for Margaret "Peggy" Sheffield

Margaret “Peggy” Sheffield, 97, of Black Mountain went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2014.
Mrs. Sheffield was born in Roanoke, VA, on August 24, 1917 to the late Frank and Ida Crowder.
She was a volunteer with the Kiwanis Thrift Shop, Black Mountain Center, and CBU Christian Ministries for over 25 years. Peggy was a member of First Baptist Church, Swannanoa, Irene McMahan Sunday School Class and the Senior Choir. Peggy traveled overseas to Israel and went on Mission Trips to Guatemala.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 47 years, Robert Sheffield and brother, Shirley Crowder.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Buchanan; granddaughter, Cristina Creasman (Barry); great grandchildren, Hunter and Hannah all of Marion; several special nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Burial was in the WNC State Veterans Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Ridge Wellness Center for their loving care over the past 2 ½ years.
