Ferrell Edward “Sonny” Payne died peacefully at his home on Monday, April 11, 2016. He was 83 years old.
Sonny was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and retired from Asheville City Schools Maintenance after 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Payne; and brother, Leonard Payne.
Sonny is survived by his sons, Ferrell Payne (Jackie) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Leonard Payne of Asheville, and Trent Payne (Karen) of Asheville; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. All his family and his wife were the light of his life.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Randy Stone officiating.
