Obituary for Thomas Arden "Tommy" Perkins Jr.

Thomas (Tommy) Arden Perkins, Jr., age 47 of Black Mountain passed away unexpectedly and peacefully of natural causes in Dothan, Alabama on August 29, 2016.
Tommy Perkins was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 15, 1969 to Sylvia (Grogan) Perkins and Thomas Arden Perkins, Sr. He began his career in the cellular industry in Greensboro, North Carolina where he met his wife Tracie. In recent years, his career allowed him to travel throughout the United States and Canada. His family was the most important thing in his life; it was for them that he accomplished and sacrificed so much.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Tracie McNeely Perkins; son, Zane Arden Perkins; his parents, Sylvia Grogan Perkins and Thomas Arden Perkins, Sr.; grandmother, Evelyn Grogan Tate; his sister, Stephanie Perkins Payne; niece, McKenzie Payne; nephew, Samuel McNeely; his brother in life, Jerry McNeely; and sisters in life, Kelly McNeely and Summer McNeely. He was loved by his parents-in-law, Hazel and Jerry McNeely, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, friends and co-workers.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Harwood Home for Funerals, 208 West State Street, Black Mountain, North Carolina with a reception immediately following at Louise’s Kitchen, 115 Black Mountain Avenue, Black Mountain, NC.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Tommy’s honor to the Thomas Perkins Memorial Fund established in his memory, to help fund Zane’s college education and immediate family needs. Contributions may be made c/o First Citizens Bank, PO Box 1330, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
