Clifton J. Toothaker, Jr. 96, of Black Mountain, passed away November 1, 2016.
Clifton was born December 6, 1919 to the late Clifton J. Toothaker, Sr. and Agnes Toothaker. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid gardener. Clifton was a 32nd degree Shriner, a member of St. Johns Masons of Newburyport, MA, and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII and a 40-year retiree from the Pearl Harbor Naval shipyard. He was also a member of Swannanoa Valley Ministries.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years and the mother of his children, Marjorie White Toothaker; wife of 23 years, Virginia Thomas; daughter, Linda Tirone; brother, Robert Toothaker; and sister, Margaret Lord.
Clifton is survived by his daughter, Sandra Cyr (Roger); step son, Charles Allen Thomas (Janet); sister, Nancy Barbaro; brother, Jack Toothaker; grandchildren, Roger Cyr, Jr, Lisa Cyr-Wilmot, Robert Cyr, Geoffrey Cyr, Jon Cyr, Joann Knowles, Christopher Tirone, Jennifer Pesci, and Lauren Tirone; step grandchildren, Cameron Thomas and Kiersten Edwards; 12 great grandchildren; and 5 step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be in the Spring in Massachusetts.
