Obituary for Norman Vincent Schaich

Norman Vincent Schaich, 65, of Black Mountain, passed peacefully away in his sleep on February 15, 2019.

Norm was born July 5, 1953 in Caldwell County to the late Henry and Reba Schaich. He was a graduate of Lenoir High School, Appalachian State University, and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Louisville Law School. Norm was a long-time resident of Black Mountain and a local attorney. He was in practice in Black Mountain for 35 years and was the epitome of a Christian lawyer, having served hundreds of clients in the Swannanoa Valley. Norm was an avid Civil War relic collector, salt-water fisherman, and retired Colonel from the US Army-JAG Division. Until his decline in health, he was an active member of First Baptist Church Black Mountain. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and clients.

Norm is survived by his wife of 29 years, Michele Miller Schaich; son, Andrew Thomas Schaich of the home; and brother, Chris Schaich of Lenoir, NC.

A celebration of life service and burial will be held Friday, April 5, 2019 at 2:00pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
