Obituary for Pauline "Polly" Jenkins (Head)

Pauline “Polly” Jenkins, long time resident of the Swannanoa Valley passed into Heaven on the afternoon of 2/11/2018 leaving a legacy of love.
Born in 1925 to William McKinley Head and Donnie Elvira Lavender in McDowell County, at a very young age her parents moved to Swannanoa where her father worked as a welder at Beacon Manufacturing
As a young lady, she worked various jobs until finding Beacon Manufacturing. At Beacon she forged a career that spanned more than 40 years.
Polly met the love of her life - Guy Jenkins while carrying her groceries home. From that humble beginning - much like her career, the union of Guy and Polly lasted in excess of 40 years until his death in 1993
Polly was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; three sisters, Mary Grace Howie, Nellie Ruth Harris and Dorothy “Dot” Garrison; and three nephews, Phil H. Garrison, Tommy Harris and Billy Boehner.
Survivors left to cherish the memories of her love are nieces, Sharon Howie Eakett and Lana Garrison; nephews, David Harris and Michael Heath Howie; a very special caregiver and friend, Letha Howie; longtime friend, Harold Ogle; and an extensive extended family and a multitude of friends.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery.
