Obituary for Anna Marie "Ree" Turner (Bunnell)

Anna Marie “Ree” Turner, 90, of Black Mountain passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
Mrs. Turner was born June 19, 1930 in Louisville, KY to the late James and Fannie Rosche Bunnell.
She was a 1948 graduate of Black Mountain High School where she was a cheerleader. Her major love was dancing, and she enjoyed hiking and watching sports; never missing a Kentucky Derby. She retired from Kearfott with over 30 years of service. She then worked at Tanners for several years and volunteered at the Swannanoa Valley Museum and was a member of the Pilot Club. Ree was known for her family recipes and cooking. Always dressed to a “T”, her pleasant character and friendly disposition along with her contagious smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Hugh Turner; sister, Mary Hartung; and grandson, Chad Haynes.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her children, Teresa Haynes (Ken) of Weaverville, Tom Turner (Susan) of Morganton, Mark Turner (Pam) of Middleburg, FL, Stan Turner (Jill) of Fletcher, and David Turner (Denise) of Asheville; grandchildren, Trina Dotson (Kris), Erin Furnia (Jeremiah), Shawn Turner (Lindsey), Kelly Richardson (Scott), Alana Alecusan (Alex), Davis Turner, and Lauren Turner; and 13 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals & Cremation Services. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
