A.V. "Chigger" Hollifield Jr., age 74, of Black Mountain passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at home surrounded by family.

Chigger is survived by his brother, Bobby Hollifield; nieces, Lisa Williams, Becky Calderon (Hermen) and Cheryl Williams who was his main caretaker; nephews, Bruce Calloway and Kevin Calloway; great-nieces and nephew who were very special to him, Emily, Megan and Tyler.

Our sweet Chig has gone home to be with the Lord. Chig had a smile that could brighten anybody's day. He was full of love and life. It was the simple pleasures of life that made him happy such as just sitting outside, playing with his blocks, eating a good hamburger cooked on the grill and enjoying a cup of cold buttermilk. Chig had a kind heart and brought much laughter to our lives. We are heartbroken but take great comfort in knowing he is sitting at King Jesus' feet, filling Heaven with his beautiful smile. We love you Chig and you will always remain in our hearts.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, June 28, 2019 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Harwood Home for Funerals in Black Mountain, NC. He will be laid to rest at Ballard Cemetery.

Flowers are accepted and appreciated, or memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Care of Greensboro.

Special thanks to Hospice Care of Greensboro and Harwood Home for Funerals for all your help during this difficult time.
