Obituary for Betty Jean Ammons Hicks

Betty Jean Ammons Hicks, affectionately known as Beanie to many, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on September 30, 2022, at the age of 77.

Betty was born October 30, 1944 and was one of eight children. She was a welcoming soul with a loving and generous heart and infectious personality. Betty was joy and light to all she met. She had a long and fulfilling career for over 20 years at Ridgecrest Conference Center, followed by rewarding work at Christian Believers United and the Black Mountain Center. She enjoyed traveling and had a fierce love for her family. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Marvie Dean Ammons; granddaughter, Elora Erin Reese; sister-in-law, Joyce Ammons; and brother-in-law, Donald Waldrup.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Reese (Tara), Ronnie Reese (Tammy) and Phoebe Hall (Kevin); grandchildren, Noah and Samantha Reese, and Luke Hall; siblings, Bobby Ammons, Ralph Ammons, Theresa Waldrup, Larry Ammons, Ricky Ammons, and Melanie Reising; lifelong friend and love, Donnie Ballard; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 9, 2022 from 2:00 to 3:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals & Cremation Services. A celebration of life service will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394 or your local church in memory of Betty.
