Obituary for Caroline Pittman Osteen

Caroline Pittman Osteen, 83, of Black Mountain, passed away July 4, 2019.

Caroline was born on July 19, 1935 to the late Charles Perry Pittman and Dorothy York Pittman. Caroline lived in Wilmington, NC, then moved to Black Mountain during her high school years. It was here that Caroline met her husband of 53 years, the late Carroll Wayne Osteen. Caroline and Wayne were graduates of Charles D Owen Class of 1955.

Caroline and Wayne later moved to Mars Hill and raised their family. Caroline was active in Girl Scouts and PTA. She enjoyed bridge and crocheting and knitting.

Caroline is remembered for her sweet nature and her joy of crocheting and knitting afghans and baby blankets for others.

She is survived by her children: Mike Osteen (Melva), Joanie Osteen St Clair, Paul Osteen (Helen) and Connie Osteen Fore; grandsons: Brandon Fore (Brandi), Mark Fore and Patrick St Clair; great-grandchildren: Logan, Taylor, Madi and Jackson Fore; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Caroline is preceded in death by her brothers: Charles Mitchell Pittman and William Patrick Pittman.

A memorial service will be held at Kerlee Heights Baptist Church in Black Mountain on Tuesday, July 9 at 11am, followed by a luncheon. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Givens Highland Farms in Black Mountain, or Care Partners Hospice in Asheville.
