Obituary for Carolyn S. Brown
Carolyn S. Brown, 82, of Black Mountain, passed away after an extended illness on May 18, 2021.
Carolyn was born October 23, 1938 in Buncombe County to the late Hubert Dalton Smith and Eunice Robinette Smith. Carolyn was an avid golfer, expert seamstress, and organist at Black Mountain United Methodist Church for 50 years. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her first husband, John Richard Hipps; second husband, Charles E. “Jack” Brown; and siblings, Hubert R. Smith, Robert V. Smith, Eva S. McLeister, and Edwin B. Smith.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Laura Radell (Mark) and Susan Barr; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Black Mountain United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
