Obituary for Colleen Miller Harris

Colleen Miller Harris, 94, of Black Mountain, NC, passed away on March 9, 2021 at Rose Hill Retirement Community in Marion, NC.

Mrs. Harris was born March 6, 1927 in Union County to the late Roy and Daisy Trull. She retired as the Western Regional Director of the American Lung Association and she was a member of Swannanoa United Methodist Church. Being a firm believer in being involved in your community, she was a volunteer through the years for Pilot Club of Black Mountain, American Red Cross, Swannanoa Valley Museum, Black Mountain Center, Black Mountain and Swannanoa Welcome Table.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Albert R. “Bill” Miller; husband of 12 years, Thomas J. Harris; brother, James Trull; and sister, Carolyn Talbert.

Colleen is survived by her daughters, Tyra Hope Miller of Gastonia, NC and Melodie Potter and husband, Ken of Bat Cave, NC; grandchildren, Lindsey and Andrew Kosydar of Clayton, NC; great grandchildren, Corinne and Harrison Kosydar of Clayton, NC; brother-in-law, Martin Talbert of Albemarle, NC; nephews, Jimmy Trull (Rickie) of Albemarle, NC and Marty Talbert (Donna) of Hendersonville, NC; numerous cherished great nieces and nephews; and “Summertime” daughters, Donna Hunt and Linda Fesperman.

A private graveside service for the family will be held Friday, March 19, 2021 at 1:00pm at Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Albemarle, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 12:00pm at Lake Tomahawk Pavilion in Black Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Swannanoa Welcome Table, PO Box 277, Swannanoa, NC 28778.
