Elder Lee Rogers Young, Jr., peacefully transitioned into his eternal rest on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 9:23am in his home after a lengthy illness. Elder Lee’s family and friends called him “June” or “Jr.”
Lee was a reformed Christian who loved the Lord, youth and people. He was a servant and loved to lend a helping hand to whomever needed it. Lee had experience with Building Deltec Homes, as well as working in Industrial work. His last employment was at Walmart Supercenter in Asheville, NC. Lee dedicated his life fully back to Christ and served with About My Father’s Business NOL Outreach Centre Ministries ITL since 2005.
Lee was preceded in death by his mother and father, Earlene Ellerton Young and Lee Rogers Young, Sr.; brothers, Richard and LeRoy Young; sisters, Rachel Young, Doris Whitson, Kathy Shippy, Carolyn Love, Hilda White, and Debra Boyd; brothers-in-law, Gary Muckelvene and Jonah Love; first wife, Gloria Greene Young; and nephew, Larry Young.
Left to cherish and honor his memory is his wife and caregiver of 23 years, Bishop Angela B. Young of their home in Black Mountain, NC; sister, Teressa Muckelvene; brother, Charles Young and wife, Shirley; brother-in-law, Eddie White; sister-in-law, Beverly Hausley; and father-in-law, Henry Burgin. Lee was blessed to have children, Sonya Young Clay and husband, Jereal, Donna Young Davis and husband, Dequavis, Antonio Young and wife, Tamara, Marcus Twitty, Kimberly Hazel, Tamyeka James and husband, Derek, and Terence Burgin; 16 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. His memory is cherished by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
Elder Lee was active in his community and volunteered with The New Mercies Afterschool Mentorship Advocacy & Educational Programs for several years. He walked with his wife, Angela, in service and dedication to God in restoring the fallen and discouraged.
Services will be held at Harwood Home for Funerals & Cremation Services on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 1:00pm. Pastor Wayne K. Purcell, Apostle Rachel Floyd, and Ministerial Staff of AMFBNOL will be in charge of the service.
