Obituary for Ernest William Banks
Ernest William Banks, 86, of Swannanoa, passed away on March 3, 2022.
Mr. Banks was born January 27, 1936 in Buncombe County to the late Joe and Estella Burrell Banks. He was a hard-working man who loved his family and loved farming. Ernest was a veteran of the US Army and served in Germany, he retired from Beacon Manufacturing after 43 years, and attended Swannanoa Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth Creasman, Fred Banks, and Judy Treadway.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Frances Banks; daughter, Becky Pope (Keith); son, David Banks; sisters, Ruby Kane, Lois Brownlee, Alice Wilson, Linda Brank, Gail Greenwood, and Betty Allen; brothers, James Banks, Paul Banks, John Banks, and Joe Banks Jr.; grandchildren, Jessica Sherman (Scotty), Justin Banks (Jenna), Zachary Pope, and Garrett Pope; great grandchildren, Canaan Sherman, Cade Sherman, Riley Banks, and Raya Banks.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 11:30am to 1:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals & Cremation Services. A celebration of life service will immediately follow with Rev. Bruce Robinson and Rev. Jimmy Page officiating. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
