Georgia Viola Hampton passed away on March 30, 2019. She was born on June 3rd, 1921 in Crooked Creek Township, McDowell County, NC to Fred P. Lytle and Mary Lou Lytle (Davis).
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Norman Hampton; three sons, J.L. Lytle, Vernon Ray Hampton, and Jerry Lee Hampton. She was also preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters and their spouses.
Surviving children are Elaine Carrig (Tom) and Buster Hampton (Gayle). Georgia has eleven surviving grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Georgia grew up in the Crooked Creek / Davis Town section of McDowell County. A few years after marrying Norman, they moved to Black mountain in 1949 where she lived until she went into a nursing home in Swannanoa in 2013. As a stay at home mom, she provided daycare and after school care to over 65 different Black Mountain kids. Georgia always had a big garden which she loved to share with others. She also did lots of sewing of baby blankets and crafts and contributed many hand-made stuffed animals to the Black Mountain Fire Department's annual Christmas toy collection.

Visitation will be on April 11th at 2:00 PM with memorial service to immediately follow at Harwood Home for Funerals in Black Mountain.
