Obituary for Hazel Dell Stines (Owen)
Hazel Dell Stines, 94, of Black Mountain passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022.
Hazel was born August 23, 1927 in Buncombe to the late James Marshall and Althea Stroupe Owen. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Swannanoa and worked as a nutritionist director for the Black Mountain Lake View Center for 17 years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Burnie Stines; children, Lorraine Brewer, Larry Owen and Tom Owen; sister, Aileen Harvey and brother, Howard Owen.
Hazel is survived by her children, Gail Rayburn, Beth Conner (Ernest Jr.), and Robert Rice (Karen); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:00am in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals & Cremation Services with her grandson, Rev. Stephen Owen officiating.
Burial will follow in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
