Obituary for Irene N. White
Irene N. White, 69, of Black Mountain, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022.
Mrs. White was born June 22, 1952 in Buncombe County to the late Joseph and Martha Nelon. In the past 40 years, Irene has taken in hundreds of children to help raise and nurture. Irene was a member of Swannanoa Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack White; and brothers, James and Pat Nelon.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Joey White (Suzanna), Stephen White (Robin), Brandon White (Misty), Rhys White, Bethany Butler (Elijah), Kimberly White, Emily White, and Sophia Ledford; brother, George Nelon; grandchildren, Parker, Zachary, Jacob, Christian, Josephine, Ian, Marley, Riley, and Landon; and great grandchildren, Ronin, Georgia Grace, and Jackie.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 12:00 to 1:00pm at Swannanoa Church of God. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at the church. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
