The Final Journey

When I've traveled my last mile
And I've reached the end of life
When the call for me has come
I'll move on from trials and strife

Christ will carry me, my friend
To a blessed and peaceful rest
Where no more I'll need to labor
Where I'm whole, and fully blessed

In a land of milk and honey
Where my loved ones on me wait
He will hold my hand and guide me
When I reach that pearly gate

For in God I've always trusted
And in Him I am redeemed
I'll be home—safe and secure
In that place of which I've dreamed

Heaven's where I now belong
Please don't grieve for me, my friend
For my journey is complete
And my joy will never end

'Tho the storm is rough and savage
And the river's deep and wide
Angel bands will come, and lift me
Christ will be right by my side

Do not fear for what's ahead
Put your faith in God above
If you're holding Jesus' hand
You are covered with His love
