Obituary for James Alan Owenby
James Alan Owenby, 56, of Black Mountain passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
The fish and wildlife of NC & SC are resting a little easier these days.
Alan was born September 7, 1964 in Buncombe County to the late Roy and Helen Owenby. Alan loved fishing, hunting, being with his family and friends, Braves baseball, and Duke basketball. Alan retired from Kearfott and was of the Baptist faith.
Alan is survived by his siblings, Kenneth Owenby (Colleen) of Asheville, Karen Cox (Ace) of Fairview, William Owenby (Sharon) of Greenville, TN and Jason Owenby (Alisha) of Black Mountain; maternal aunt, Dollie Blevins (Don) of Erwin, TN and paternal aunt, Jeanette Owenby of Asheville; nieces, Sarah, Destiny, Crystal, Alyssa, and Lexie and nephews, Matthew, Ryan, Hunter, Ray, Roy, Mark, Paxton and Bennett.
A graveside service will be Friday, January 15, 2021 at 1:00pm at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is thankful to the staff of The Laurels at Greentree Ridge for their care of Alan these last few months.
