Obituary for Jasper "Butch" Maggio
Jasper “Butch” Maggio, 79 of Waxhaw, NC passed away April 24, 2021 at the NC State Veterans Home in Black Mountain, NC.
Mr. Maggio was born June 3, 1941 in LaSalle, IL., the oldest of four children to Sam and Bernice Jones Maggio.
Jasper graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1959 and served in the US Marines Corp from 1959 to 1963. He retired from Mennie Machine Co. in Mark, IL and was a member of Holy Rosary in LaSalle. Jasper lived most of his life in LaSalle, IL until he could no longer live alone when he moved to North Carolina to live with his son, Rob and his family. Rob took care of him until just recently when it became too much and they moved him to the NC State Veterans Home.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Salvatore Maggio and sister, Diana Maggio Mueller.
Jasper is survived by his daughter, Wendy (Robert) Covers of Prairie Grove, IL; son, Robert (Bobbie) Maggio of Waxhaw, NC; sister, Sandra Antas of Manassas, VA; seven grandchildren, Brittany (Bob) O’Hagan, Kelsey (Kyle) Milborn, Emilee and Ethan Covers and Tristin, Illiana and Aaden Maggio; and five great grandsons, Jameson, Beckett, and Oliver O’Hagan and Brody and Cal Milborn.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
