Obituary for Jeanette Owenby (Banks)
Jeanette Banks Owenby, 87, of Asheville, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
Jeanette was born February 3, 1935 in Buncombe County to the late Grady and Virginia Morgan Banks. She was a member of Christian Creek Missionary Baptist Church where she served as church clerk, organist and Sunday school teacher over the years. She worked for Kearfott and Tandy Corp. for many years.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband, James Horace Owenby and brother, Leon Banks.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Larry Banks (JoAnn) and sister, Jewell Weaver and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, December 12, 2022 from 12:00 to 1:00pm at Christian Creek Missionary Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service immediately following. Pastor Jason Queen will officiate. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
