Obituary for Jonathan Scott Robinson

Jonathan Scott Robinson, 39, of Swannanoa, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on January 14, 2021.

Jonathan was a quiet, gentle person who deeply loved and appreciated nature and all animals, especially his beloved dog, Francis. An avid and passionate collector of minerals, gems, rocks and special wood pieces, Jonathan loved sharing his rare finds and curated collection with anyone who showed an interest. He relished celebrating the 4th of July and enjoyed collecting fireworks. He took comfort in spending time at his lifelong home with his neighborhood friends and family, especially his mother, Virginia (Ginger) Robinson.

Jonathan was born September 22, 1981, in Buncombe County, and was loved by an incredibly large extended family with deep roots in Western North Carolina. He was a son to Larry Dale and Virginia Shope Robinson, brother to many siblings, and honorary brother to a large number of foster siblings over the years. He spent many happy years growing up in East Asheville with aunts, uncles, and dozens of cousins.

The family takes great comfort in knowing Jonathan was welcomed to heaven by those who preceded him in death including his father, Larry Robinson, his paternal grandparents, Wayne and Alma Robinson, and his maternal grandparents, Mack and Sandy Shope, and many other loved ones.

A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 2:30 at Sky View Memorial Park in Swannanoa.
