Obituary for Linda Louise Stegall (Register)
Linda Louise Stegall, 75, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 in Houston, TX after a long illness.
Linda was born September 9, 1946 in Palatka, FL to the late James Thadis and Myrtle Louise Register. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Carroll R. Stegall; sister, Betty Levy; and brothers, Bill and Jerry Register.
Linda enjoyed making friends wherever she went. Her travels took her all over the globe, from visiting Africa to see Carroll’s childhood home, to exploring Asia and Eastern Europe while working as a missionary with Mission to the World, Evangelism Explosion and Holy Spirit Presbyterian Church in Kiev, Ukraine. Before becoming a missionary, Linda was a math teacher with Duval County Schools. After retiring from the mission field, Linda moved home to Florida and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church (OPC) in St. Augustine.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Chalon Murray and husband, Edmund of Houston, TX; son, Robert Stegall of Maitland, FL; brother, Charles Register and wife, Maggie of Bradenton, FL; and grandchildren, Shannon Murray and husband, José Hernandez, and Brendan Murray.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:00am at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bulut Yasar officiating.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00am at Mountain View Memorial Park in Black Mountain, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, Building Fund, 1965 State Road 16, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
