Obituary for Lula Osteen Ward

Lula Osteen Ward, 83, of Black Mountain, passed away January 11, 2022.

Mrs. Ward was born February 22, 1938 in Buncombe County to the late James and Ruth Lusk Osteen. Lula enjoyed history, reading, watching sports, and drinking coffee. She loved her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack William “Banny” Ward; and siblings, James Freno Osteen Jr., Alvis Lee Osteen, Roland Burton Osteen, Carroll Wayne Osteen and Meredith Yvonne Ensley.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Chiquita Crowe (Edward); son, Ron Ward (Jennifer); sister, Anna Rue Parks; grandchildren, Nikki Crowe, Garrett and Grayson Ward; great grandchildren, Mason York and Walela Lambert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 11:30am to 12:30pm at Harwood Home for Funerals & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will be held immediately follow with Rev. James Lamb officiating.

Burial will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
