Obituary for Madge Garland Milovitz
Madge Garland Milovitz, 95, passed away May 7, 2021. She was born March 22, 1926 in Bakersville, NC to the late Naoma Masters and Jesse Garland.
Madge was a member of Black Mountain United Methodist Church. She spent most of her life working in the financial world, 36 years at North Western Bank and retiring from First Union Bank in 1986 as Vice President. Madge was also the prior owner of Mountain View Memorial Park until 2002. She was very active in the community, especially Black Mountain Lions Club.
In addition to her parents, Madge was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Andrew Thomas Milovitz in 2000; sisters, Ella Hall, Gladys Stuart, Hattie Tipton, Doris Hoilman and Irene Haynes; and brothers, Ray Garland, Bob Edwards, and Arnold Garland.
Madge is survived by her son, William Ray Milovitz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals and Cremation Services. A celebration of life service will immediately follow with Rev. Gerald Collins officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park.
