Obituary for Mike "Mike" McKee

William Michael (Mike) McKee, 91, of Black Mountain, NC passed on to his heavenly home on May 27, 2021. Mike was born in Oklahoma City, OK and graduated from Hutchinson High School in Hutchinson, KS. Mike worked for many years in the grocery business for Dillon Company and later as a food broker. He is predeceased by his parents, Paul and Margaret McKee; son, William Michael McKee, Jr.; and a great granddaughter, Madelyn Grace Johnston.

He and his wife, Bette, moved to Black Mountain, NC, from Monroe, LA in 2000. He greatly enjoyed his retirement years acquiring many beloved friends, leading a Tuesday morning men's Bible study, serving as a leader in Celebrate Recovery, serving on the prayer team at the Cove at the Billy Graham Training Center, and was a faithful member of Mountain View Church in Black Mountain.

Mike is survived by his wife, Bette; daughter, Paula Dovers (Bryan); son, Tim McKee; nephew, Lawrence Michael McKee (Belinda); sisters, Mary Harrington and Ann Lasch; and stepdaughters, Lisa Rogers (Bud) and Lori Caskey (Brian). He is also survived by grandchildren, TJ Johnston, Talor Morgan McKee, Lauren Bokesch (Adam), Grant Rogers (Kathryn), Anna Gibson (Kendall), and Seth Caskey (Blake); and 4 great grandchildren, Linden Bokesch, Sawyer Johnston, Hank Johnston, and Brooks Rogers. Special appreciation is extended to Talina Holloway for her compassionate care for Mike.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 4th, at Mountain View Church at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Brent Bolick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Celebrate Recovery at Mountain View Church, 2221 N. Fork Right Fork, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
