Obituary for Patricia Elizabeth Gill Sutton

Patricia Elizabeth Gill Sutton, 81, passed October 25, 2022 peacefully at Hickory Village Memory Care, Hickory, NC where she has been a resident for the past 16 months suffering with vascular dementia for the past decade.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Earl Gill and Helen Roberts Gill Ballard, of Weaverville, NC; her late devoted husband, Bob C. Sutton; and son, Rodney Glenn Jordan, both of Black Mountain; stepdaughter, Traci Layne Sutton of Sylva; her brother, James Edwin "Eddie" Gill of Easley, SC; and sister, Nancy Gill Forrester of Asheville.

She left behind her loving children, William "Bill" Wells and wife, Kim of Black Mountain; daughters, Penny Wells Wallace and husband, Bob of Cape Coral, FL and Cheryl Wells Sullins and husband, Jim of Marion, NC.

She also left behind a sister, Betty Earlene Gill Israel; brother, David Glenn Gill of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Joann Gill of Easley, SC; sister-in-law, Linda Sutton Beagles of Hendersonville, NC; brother-in-law, Joe Carroll Sutton of Sylva, NC; nieces, Jill, Krissie, Teresa, Jody, Dee, Kelly, Glenda and Jenny; nephews, Chris, Mitch, Keith, Jason and Aaron.

Grandchildren, Braydon Luckadoo, (Amanda), Brooke Luckadoo Hicks (Jordan), Sarah Wells Moore (Matthew), all from Charlotte, NC, and Maegan Wells of Columbia, SC; great grandchildren, Ryder Hicks, Parker Hicks, Lincoln Moore and baby Luckadoo due in February 2023 to Braydon & Amanda; two very special cousins which she called them her babies, Linda Roberts Forrester of Bradenton, FL, and Brenda Roberts Wright of Black Mountain; and many great nieces and nephews.

A resident of Black Mountain, she devoted her life and love to her family and her passion of sewing. She had an eye for detail that no one could ever master like her. She did custom work for men & women of all shapes and sizes and always found the way to make their clothes fit to a T. Her true love was wedding gowns - she could make magic with anything she touched. She did contract work out of the House of Fabrics, Wachter's Silk Shop and David's Bridal just to name a few.

"Nana" always had a surprise treat for the grandkids, whether it be butter fingers, girl scout cookies or whoppers hidden in her closet, she knew that would be the first place they would go! She loved how they loved that.

She loved to talk and visit, rarely meeting a stranger. In fact, she called herself "The mouth of the South"! She was a very giving and selfless person, wanting to help and give to others even if she didn't have the means to do so. She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile and her special touch of love.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 30th from 2:00 until 4:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals and Cremation Services on West State Street in Black Mountain, NC. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Alzheimer's/Dementia Association, https://www.alz.org/.
