Obituary for Patti Ann Bennett (Owens )
Patti Ann Bennett, 71, of Old Fort passed away February 9, 2022.
Mrs. Bennett was born November 13, 1950 in Panama City, Florida but was a lifelong resident of North Carolina, residing in McDowell County. She retired from the State of NC, Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Olice and Ruth Owens.
Patti emulated selfless love; the same love she received at the apron hem of her beloved Granny Ocie Bell Ragan. Many a struggling friend and neighbor enjoyed a warm bowl of her soup beans and cornbread. A lost pup never wandered to her door and left hungry, and never a child would leave her home empty-handed.
She made a wonderful life to her precious pups, Max, Corki, and Sissy. She was a true pet advocate, always promoting pet adoption and reuniting lost pets with their families.
Patti was fun-loving and witty. She was compassionate and she was a peacemaker. She gave love that could be felt and we will mourn her for a good long while…
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Charles R. Bennett; son, Billy Lindsey (Jessica) of Asheville; sisters, Linda Haslett (Mark) of St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, England, Suzi Lewis (Robert) of Peachtree Corners, GA and Terri Davis (Wilton) of Asheville, NC; and one granddaughter, McKenzie.
