Obituary for Preston O. Summey
Preston O. Summey, 97, of Black Mountain, passed away December 1, 2021 at home.
Mrs. Summey was born September 3, 1924 in Buncombe County to the late Russell and Mattie C. Owenby. Preston was a member of Broad River Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was a loving wife and mother who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Lloyd W. Summey of the home; sons, Wallace Summey of Mountain Home, NC and Clifford Summey of Charleston, SC; and daughter, Peggy Ann Harris of Asheville, NC.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Gene Summey (Eunice) of the home; grandchildren, Rick Summey, Tony Summey, Sheila Burrell, Angela Summey, Jodi Fenner, Joshua Summey, and Nolan Hunter; and 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Broad River Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will immediately follow with Everett Conner officiating. Burial will be in Broad River Baptist Church Cemetery.
At other times, the family will be at the home of Gene and Eunice Summey.
