Obituary for Priscilla An Hopkins

Priscilla An Hopkins, 82, of Black Mountain, North Carolina, died August 23, 2020 after a short battle with COVID-19 virus.

She was born on the 28th day of December 1937 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Henry Kreitzer; and her sister, Linda Murnan.

She is survived by her husband, Jonathan Lee Hopkins of Black Mountain, NC; sons, Mark Andrew Hopkins (Leslie) of Apex, NC and Matthew Alden Hopkins (Elyse); and grandsons, Joshua Keaton Hopkins and Jacob Andrew Hopkins, all of Simpsonville, SC.

Priscilla graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA in 1960 with a teaching degree. She then taught classes at Edgar Allen Poe Middle School in Fairfax County, VA for two years before moving to Asheville, NC with her husband, Jonathan. While in Asheville, she taught classes at David Millard Middle School and later at Owen High School (now Owen Middle School). After moving to Black Mountain in 1982, she found a teaching position at McDowell High School in Marion, NC, remaining there until her retirement in 2001.
