Obituary for Robert J. "Papaw" Rhinehart

Robert J. Rhinehart, 92, known to many as Papaw, went home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2021.

Robert was born April 30, 1929 in Madison County to the late James and Ollie Rhinehart. He retired from Drexel Manufacturing and always provided for his family. His sense of humor will long be remembered by his family and friends. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed by not only his family, but his dear friends and church family at Homer’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and member for numerous years. Having his family involved in church was something he took great pride in.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Griffin Rhinehart; daughter, Mary Rhinehart; son, Jerry Rhinehart; and siblings, Estelle Shelton and J.C. Rhinehart.

Robert is survived by his son, Stephen Rhinehart (Ann); daughter-in-law, Debbie Rhinehart; grandchildren, Gregory Rhinehart (Jennifer), Ashleigh Ayers (Justin), and Jacob Rhinehart (Caroline); great grandchildren, Caleb and Joshua Rhinehart, and Ryder Justice; and special niece and nephew, Trish Harper and Glenn Shelton.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 2:00 to 3:00pm at Homer’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at the church with Rev. Caleb Davis, Rev. Charlie Bradley and Rev. Doug Mathis officiating.

A graveside service will be Monday, November 22, 2021 at 11:00am at Bowman – Rector Cemetery in Marshall.
