Obituary for Roger Scott Moon

Roger Scott Moon was born in 1964 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Paul Edward Moon and Marilyn Katherine Moon, both now deceased.

Roger received his engineering degree from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. He worked as a Manufacturing Engineer for 32 years, the last 22 years as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer & Fastening Specialist for The BMW Group in Greenville SC.

Roger was an Army veteran and served in the Gulf War. “Sensei” Roger Moon was a life-long Martial Arts teacher and student.

Roger is survived by his wife, Amy Landis Parker; his two children, Scott Moon and Brittani Moon; their mother, Kristi Lynn Blaine Moon; brother, Paul Edward “Skip” Moon Jr., his daughter, Joanna Reed-Toner, and his grandchildren, Samantha and Johnny Reed; brother, Michael Allen Moon, and his wife Pamela Anthony Moon, and their daughter, Allison Michelle Moon; Roger’s sister, Dr. Susan Gail Moon Finch and husband, Dr. Max C. Finch, and their son, Max Henry Finch.

Roger and his three siblings called themselves “The Moonies”. They had a vibrant grapevine of text chains to pass along family information, stories and jokes.

Roger and Amy met in 2018 and were married in December 2021. They loved travel, adventure, hiking, music, and friends. Roger was head over heels with his new wife, and their new life together.

Roger loved his children and family dearly. He was the kind of guy that would do anything for a friend. Some of his friends fondly named him “trouble shooter”. He was extremely capable and bright, always willing to lend a hand. He wanted to fix everything and take care of people, so everyone could relax and have a good time.
He loved the home he and Amy built in Black Mountain, NC. Roger was an engineer by training and temperament. He was a perfectionist always looking for a project.

Roger, with his constant “I’m the luckiest guy in the world” smile on his face, passed away on the evening of July 15, 2022. Those who knew Roger have had their world darken just a bit with the loss of that smile, that friend. He will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests consideration of a donation to The American Heart Association.
