Obituary for Rose Alonzo Sikorski

Rose Alonzo Sikorski, age 85 of Marion (formerly of Black Mountain) entered life eternal on Sunday, March 6 after a brief hospitalization. Rose Marie Dicenzo was born in Buffalo, NY on March 13, 1936 and lived in FL, NC, SC and then returned to the mountains of WNC in the spring of 2007. Before retirement many years ago, she was employed at Asheville Industries and served in many restaurants and hotels throughout her working life. Rose attended Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church in Black Mountain. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank Sikorski; her brothers, Ralph Dicenzo, Paul and Jimmy Alonzo; and by her son, Ralph Bailey.

Surviving are her sons, Samuel Bailey, Jr. (Tracy) of Marion, NC, Lewis Bailey (Penny) of El-Mirage, AZ and David Sikorski (Beth) of Greer, SC; special friends and life-long mischief makers, Brynda Hunter (Jeff) of Old Fort, NC and Linda Roberts (Lee) of Leicester, NC; grandchildren, Jennifer Gillespie, Kassidy and Alayna Bailey, Vance, Nancy and Steven Taylor, Sam Bailey III, Chris Harty (Coley), Ryan Bailey (Amm), Nicole Gray (Kevin), Ashley Imperialy (Peter), Brittany Trigueros (Angel), Angel, Krya and Jaiden Sikorski, Nathan, Jacob and Jordan Hunter; and great-grandchildren, De’von, Maria, Kaeydn, David, Warren, Quentin, Ethan, Eileen, Ayla, Syrus, Emily, Trey, Brian, Josh and Matthew.

A typical Italian mom/grandma, Rosie loved good food. She enjoyed cooking for her family and at the many diners and restaurants where she worked. Her favorite foods were good pizza or spaghetti, strawberry milkshakes and whopper jrs. Rose loved to dance and, in later years, would often be found dancing around with her cane or walker. She enjoyed her computer games, especially mahjong, and keeping up with everything and everyone on Facebook. Rose loved doing crafts, and delighted in the joy on a loved one’s face when gifted with a special treasure she had worked on for many hours. Everyone who met her agreed that she was a classy lady with a big heart and a great sense of humor. Her one-liners were the best!

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 2:00pm at Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church, 204 Blue Ridge Road, Black Mountain, NC. The family will greet friends after the service in the fellowship hall.

Special thanks are extended to the staff of Kindred at Home Health and the staff of Mission McDowell for their loving care.
