Obituary for Ruby Ann Watkins (Pressley)
Ruby Ann Pressley Watkins, known to many as “Mamaw” and “Mrs. Ruby”, 79, of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2022.
Ruby was born March 9, 1942 in Buncombe County to the late Fate and Edna Pressley. She was a member of Christian Creek Baptist Church and she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Wilburn, Jay, Merrimon, Leroy and Ursula.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 61 years, Lewis Watkins; sons, Jeff Watkins (Lynn), Jon Watkins (Katie) and Jerry Watkins (Pam); sister, Bobby Elkins; brothers, Robert Pressley and Jim Pressley; grandchildren, Candace, Ryan, Courtney, Renee, Zeke and Wylie; and 11 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 1:30 to 2:30pm at Christian Creek Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at the church with Rev. Jason Queen and Rev. James Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Sky View Memorial Park.
