Shirley Mae Williams Roper, 76, of Swannanoa, passed away March 31, 2021.
Shirley was born June 30, 1944 in Buncombe County to the late Theo and Vesti Hollifield Williams. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and loved being part of her church family. Shirley loved people and was always happiest when she got to spend time with her family and friends. She and Bill loved to camp and travel, but their greatest joy was spending time with their granddaughter, Anna. Shirley was a kind, loving person with a great sense of humor. She loved to help people and was always there to lend an ear or a hand when needed. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Roper; infant daughter, Susan Roper; and brothers, George Williams (Lois), Delmar Williams (Dot), and Fred Williams (Betty).
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Cindi Brantley and her husband, Tony; treasured granddaughter, Anna Brantley; step grandsons, Ben and Weston Brantley; siblings, Wilma Strickland (Fred), Thelma Dotson, Raymond Williams (Tensie) and Faye Hall (Charles); numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals & Cremation Services. A celebration of life service will immediately follow.
Burial will be in Mountain View Church Cemetery.
