Obituary for Susan "Sue" May Russo (Fowler)
Susan May (Fowler) Russo, age 73, passed away on May 29, 2021, in Asheville, North Carolina’s Mission Hospital. She passed peacefully in her sleep with her husband and daughter by her side.
Susan was born March 1, 1948, at Hartford Hospital. Susan is survived by her six siblings and her mother, Ethel Fowler, 94. Susan grew up in Marlborough, Connecticut. She graduated University of Connecticut Class of ’70 and obtained her master’s degree from the University of Rhode Island. Susan and her husband, William, married in 1971 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together.
Much of Susan’s life was spent in Easton, Pennsylvania with her husband, Bill, and raising their only child, Elizabeth. She worked for over 30 years in New Jersey education before retiring from her position as Special Education Coordinator at Phillipsburg High School. After retiring, she and her husband settled in Asheville, North Carolina with shared time in Port Saint Joe, Florida.
Sue was an intelligent, resilient, and compassionate person who loved her rescue dogs and was a loving wife and mother. She will be missed. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue (bwar.org) in her honor.
