Obituary for Thelma Wright Russell
Thelma Wright Russell, 84, of Black Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
Mrs. Russell was born March 30, 1937 in Buncombe County to the late Lunnie and Jannie Wright. She loved flowers and being outdoors. She always offered you something to eat and made sure you never left her house hungry. Thelma was a Christian woman who was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Matthew Russell; son, Darrell Russell; and siblings, Oates Wright, Allene Craig, and Maves Pack.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Leslie Russell (Linda), Diane Banks, Frances Denny (Richard), Jean Lanning (Cliff), and Lisa Robinson (Joe); siblings, Edith Craig, Carolyn Craig, Jay Wright, Daniel Wright, and Martha Garrison; ten grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at the church with Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
