Obituary for Willie Wade Sapp

Willie Wade Sapp, 96, of Black Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2022 with his family by his side.

Willie was born January 21, 1926 in Forsyth County to the late Ralph H. Sapp and Lake Erie Willard Sapp. He was a lifelong scout; he began as a boy scout in his youth and when he returned from WWII he became a scout leader. He worked his way up to Skipper of Ship 924 Sea Scout Troop from Reynolda Presbyterian. He was an avid leader and went on two trips to Philmont, earning awards of Eagle Palms, Eagle rank, Quarter Master rank and Order of the Arrow. Willie was a veteran of the US Navy MC2 and served during WWII. After completing a course at Forsyth Tech, he became a Tool and Die maker for 40 ½ years and he retired in 1987. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for several years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Grace Sapp; sister, Janie Duggins; and brothers, Henry Sapp, Benjamen Sapp, Homer Sapp, and Otis Sapp.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sharon Sapp of Black Mountain, Denny Driver of Black Mountain, Melissa Gibson of Huntingdon, England, and Brenda Thornburg of Black Mountain; son, Michael Sapp and wife, Barbara of North Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Elizabeth Vaughan (Dickson), Matthew Sapp, Emily Driver, Erin Crump (Jeff), Erica Driver (Patrick), Amanda Young (Paul), Michelle Gibson, and Marie Gibson (Rory); great grandchildren, Charles, Thomas, Rayna, Eudora, Keegan, Kaleb, Aubrey, Noah, and Oscar; and dear friend, Michael Holtzman.

A private service will be held by the family.
