Benny Lee Autrey, 52, of Asheville, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at home.
Mr. Autrey was born September 4, 1961 and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He was a member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church where he grew up singing, which was one of the greatest joys of his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Autrey.
Benny is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen Chapman Autrey; daughter, Jenna Autrey of Asheville; son, Ross Autrey and wife, Jessica of Hendersonville; mother, Nancy Woody and husband, Paul Woody of Burnsville; grandson, Dakota Reeves Autrey of Asheville; sister, Jill Autrey Earwood and husband, Tim of Asheville; and nieces, Kayleen Earwood May and Paige Earwood.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at Grassy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Tim Earwood officiating.
The body will lie in state on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals. There will be no formal visitation.
