Robert P. Edwards, 79, of Asheville passed away Friday, September 19, 2014.
Mr. Edwards was born May 29, 1935 in Buncombe County where he lived most of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Sindy Hollifield Edwards; brother, Tom Edwards and half-sister, Josie Jackson.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Edna Payne Edwards; daughter, Elaine Edwards; granddaughter, Amber Edwards (Gary Jackson), and great granddaughter, Brianna Edwards; niece, Regina Thomas; nephews, Butch, Roger, Daniel, and Harold Jackson and their families.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11:00am in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals with Bud Lewis officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Burial will be in Long’s Chapel Cemetery, Weaverville.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
