Alice R. Barnwell, 85, of Black Mountain, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
Mrs. Barnwell was born September 10, 1929 in Buncombe County to the late Columbus and Elizabeth Greene Raines.
Alice loved working in her yard and spending time with her family. She was a member of Grove Stone Baptist Church, where she enjoyed taking tours with the senior citizens of the church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the father of her children, Douglas B. Moseman; husband, Howard Barnwell; grandsons, Zach Davis and Conner Edwards; daughter-in-law, Brenda Lou Moseman; and brother, Jim Raines.
Alice was survived by her children, Eddie Moseman, Douglas Moseman, Kathy Settle (Ronnie), Karen Davis (Robert), and Tony Moseman (Patricia); grandchildren, Christy Edwards (Greg), Brian Moseman (Karen), BJ Settle (Carman), Dale Settle, and Heather Moseman; great grandchildren, Kylie, Bryson, Kamryn, and McKenzie; siblings, Mae Vandergrift, Jack Raines, Johnny Raines, Martha Raines, and Shirley Raines.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Harwood Home for Funerals.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Grove Stone Baptist Church.
Burial will be on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
