Frances Gilliam, 80, of Black Mountain passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014.
Mrs. Gilliam was born October 24, 1934 in Buncombe County to the late Grover and Annie Morrow Hill. Frances was a member of Broad River Baptist Church and was also an auxiliary member of the Broad River Volunteer Fire Department. She loved her family, community and the mountains.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Gilliam and sister, Mary Hill Kanipe.
Mrs. Gilliam is survived by her nieces and nephews, Sharon Kanipe, Saydie Lane, Virgil, Andrew, and Scott Gilliam; great nieces and nephews, Vaughn Gilliam, Sarah Swann, Hannah Gilliam, and Blaine Gilliam; Monique Dearmon, Clifton and Matthew Kessler; and numerous extended family members.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Broad River Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Broad River Baptist Church, 20 Kate Mountain Rd., Black Mountain, NC 28711.
