If you heard music Thursday, it might have been from Heaven. Surrounded by his family, Peter Rand of Asheville, NC passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 at the St. Joseph’s Campus of Mission Hospital.
Peter was born on August 9, 1956 in Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his parents, Joseph O. Rand, Jr. and Elizabeth (Betty) M. Rand of Black Mountain; sisters, Lanier R. Blum and brother-in-law Tom Campbell of Durham, and Susan E. Rand of Swannanoa; brother, David M. Rand and sister-in-law English R. Rand of Asheville; nine nieces, Ashley Cox (Tanner), Savannah and Scarlett Parker, Amber and Rebecca Moss, Macie King, Elizabeth, Anne and Catherine Rand, and great nephew, Trystyn Cox.
Peter enjoyed playing musical instruments “by ear”. He loved jamming with friends, playing the harmonica, guitar and piano. Peter also enjoyed playing chess with friends.
Peter’s family would like to express gratitude to the doctors, nurses, LPNs, CNAs, chaplains, and VICU staff at Mission Hospital-St. Joseph’s Campus for their comfort and care.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, Bee Tree Road, Swannanoa.
