Obituary for Ruth Marie Staggs (Maxwell)

Ruth Marie Maxwell Staggs, 83, of Swannanoa went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, March 30, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Vernon Staggs; daughter, Suzanne Mary Staggs Turner; and three brothers, Bobby, Charles, and Ralph Maxwell.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Diane Anderson (Phillip) of Marion; two sons, Jack Staggs (Janice) of Candler and Patrick Staggs (Amanda) of Columbus; brother, John Maxwell; 8 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren.
Ruth was a native of Quincy, IL where she graduated from Notre Dame High School and was the shining star of many school plays. She married Jack, a USAF cadet, and spent the next 23 years providing a loving home for her children across the world, before settling in Swannanoa, NC.
Ruth retired with 20 years from Beacon Manufacturing as the switchboard operator. She was a very dedicated parishioner at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church for 45 years where she managed the bookstore, participated on various committees, and gave communion to the sick with her best friend Laverne Jones. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and thoroughly enjoyed playing cards with her friends.
She dearly loved her children and was truly the best mom ever.
Ruth Marie Staggs was a great woman here on earth and now wears a crown of jewels in Heaven.
Please join the family in a celebration of her life at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church at 2:00pm, Monday, April 6, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, 102 Andrews Place Swannanoa, NC 28778.
