Obituary for Vernon Buckner

Vernon Buckner, 73, of Swannanoa passed away from this life and went to be with the Lord Jesus on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center surrounded by family.
A native of Yancey County, he was born to the late Roy and Lena Buckner. In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Twiggs.
Vernon was a member of Swannanoa Heights Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda Bridges Buckner; daughter, Renae Dillingham and husband, David; son, Dwayne Buckner and wife, Kim; grandchildren, Hailey Dillingham Hudgins (Corey), Heather Ruth Dillingham, Brandie Buckner, and Matthew Buckner; great grandson, Jarrett Hudgins; brothers, Lee Buckner (Peggy), Maurice Buckner, and Ray Buckner (Mary Ann).
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:00pm at Grove Stone Baptist Church with the Reverends Michael Long and James Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Bee Tree Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm, Saturday prior to the service time at the church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of CarePartners Home Hospice and The John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center for their love and care of Vernon.
