Obituary for James Harlan "Jim" Pruett Jr.

James Harlan "Jim"  Pruett Jr.
James Harlan Pruett Jr., 81, of Swannanoa went to be with his heavenly Father on September 20, 2015.
Jim was a native of Buncombe County and a resident of Swannanoa. He graduated from Swannanoa High School in 1952 and served his country in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. Jim was a respected supervisor of Taylor instruments, Pillowtex Corporation and employed at The Buncombe County Tax Office. He was a long-standing member, deacon and Sunday school teacher of Buckeye Baptist Church. Jim was a beloved brother, husband and father, and was an upright and honest man. He devoted his life to Christian principles.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Flora Brown Pruett; wife, Martha Pruett; and step-son, Steven Shultz.
He is survived by one child, Christopher Pruett of New York; four siblings, Betty P. Hudgins and Bob Pruett of Swannanoa, David Pruett of Asheville, and Carolyn Pruett of Dallas, Texas; one grandchild; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 10:30 am at Buckeye Baptist Church in Swannanoa with Pastor Mike Cribbs and Rev. Judson Rotan officiating. Burial will follow at 12:00 pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Buckeye Baptist Church.
The family wishes to express appreciation for the special care given by the staff of the North Carolina State Veterans Home.
