Obituary for Myrtle Rice

Myrtle Callahan Rice, 92, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2015.
She was a native of Rockingham County and had lived in Swannanoa over sixty years. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Octie Honeycutt Callahan. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Rice; sisters, Beulah Crain and Bonnie Ree Callahan; brothers, Dan and Paul Callahan and son in law, Ned Williams.
She is survived by her daughters, Faye Williams, Marie Davis (Larry), and Shirley Swindle (Freddie) all of Swannanoa, Betty Buff (Jim) of Fairview; son, Joe Rice (Rhonda) of Swannanoa; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 6:00 pm at Grassy Branch Baptist Church of which she was a member. Visitation will be immediately following the service. Pastor Ken Sausedo and Rev. Kenny Davis will officiate.
Burial will be Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
