Brother James (Jim) Naves left his earthly home Wednesday, October 15, 2015 for his heavenly home to be with Christ his Savior and Lord.
He was 86, the youngest son of the late Henry and Willie Jane Naves of Madison County. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Laws, and second wife, Lennette Scroggs Hensley and eight brothers, Ambrose, Lawrence, Glen, Emmett, Tom, Hubert, Erna, and an unnamed brother who died at birth.
He is survived by his wife, Lessie Hopkins Naves of the home; daughters, Carol Watson (Dennis) of Black Mountain, NC, Debra Hughes (Roger) of Corpus Christi, TX, and Linda Hensley Nicholson (Don) of Clarkesville, GA; grandsons, Chris Davis of Athens, GA and Dean Davis of Louisville, CO; three stepsons, Wayne Hopkins (Linda) of Wellford, SC, Danny Hopkins (Mary) of Black Mountain, NC and Bill Hopkins (Judy) of Duncan, SC; seven grandchildren, James, Melanie, Wendy, Jeremy, Joshua, Jed, and Zach; ten great grandchildren, Aaron, Brittany, Landon, Jessica, Josiah, Jaimie, Jonathan, Jenna, Jason and Chloe.
Jim retired from the USAF in 1970 after being assigned as supply sergeant in Libya, New Foundland, Japan, Korea, and Okinawa. The last 10 years in the USAF were very special to him having been assigned to the F105-F104 weapons systems with service in Korea and Vietnam. After his military service he worked with Public Gas Company and A & M Tool where he retired in 1994. He was a faithful member of Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church.
His greatest love was Jesus Christ, his Savior, Lord and Redeemer; his family, which everyone was a special blessing and the preaching of the Word and gospel music.
Funeral Services will be held at Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church in Black Mountain on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 2:00pm with the Rev. Jeremy Hopkins and Rev. Randy Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church or Carepartners Solace Center.
