Obituary for William Odell "Bill" Roper Jr.

William Odell "Bill"  Roper Jr.

William “Bill” Roper, 77, of Swannanoa passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
Mr. Roper was born December 11, 1938 in Buncombe County to the late William and Helen Glenn Roper. Bill was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed camping, the beach, and traveling with family. He was also the best papaw ever. He was a veteran of the US Army, and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Trustee.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Williams Roper; daughter, Cindi Brantley and husband, Tony; granddaughter, Anna Brantley; step-grandsons, Ben and Weston Brantley; special niece, Julie Williams; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Burial will be in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813 or Mountain View Baptist Church, 2221 North Fork - Right Fork Road, Black Mountain NC 28711.
