Obituary for Beverly Damaris Glenn (Page)

Beverly Damaris Page Edmonstone Glenn of Black Mountain, formerly of Charlotte NC, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016.
Beverly was born in Greenville, Mississippi on May 15, 1934, the daughter of Charles E. Page and O’Mara Clyde Lee and sister to Lee Page, all of whom preceded her in death.
Beverly graduated from Western Carolina University in 1956 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She dedicated her professional life to educating children in elementary schools in Charlotte, Black Mountain & Swannanoa, NC from 1958 until she retired in 1991 while also raising 6 children of her own. Even after her retirement, she could not stay out of the classroom and offered her creativity and experience as a volunteer at WD Williams Elementary School.
A long-time member of the Baha’i Faith, Beverly taught and coordinated Baha’i children’s classes instilling the Faith’s principles of the oneness of religion and humanity into young hearts. Children benefited from her inspired lessons on virtues such as kindness, trustworthiness, courtesy and compassion.
Beverly enjoyed reading, especially mystery novels, and attending her grandchildren’s many extracurricular activities. She was a prolific writer of poetry, prayers and stories, several of which were published over the years in local newspapers.
Beverly is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Buddy Everette Davis and her six children: Bruce Edmonstone (Dawn), Damaris Pittman (Terry), Charla Edmonstone-Pickens (Pierre), Sharon Tokanel (Shawn), Martha Edmonstone, and Tara Reese (David). Her 11 grandchildren: Chloe, Chase, Christian, Elias, Sierra, Spencer, Seth, Brittany, Zachary, Noah and Samantha, and 4 great-grandchildren: Jessica, Tyler, Madison and Hayden were a great joy in her life.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 24 in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals in Black Mountain.
